Rules & Regulations

To promote and maintain our beautiful resting place of the faithfully departed, visitors must adhere to the ARC Rules and Regulations established  to benefit the operation, safety of its patrons, and care and permanent maintenance of the cemetery.

All cemetery business must be transacted at the office. Persons other than cemetery officials are not authorized to conduct business for the cemetery.

We support the use of the Cemetery as a public space for the community, provided that all visitors recognize that this is an active cemetery and are considerate of those attending burials, commemorations, and other rituals.

We welcome walkers, runners and bicycle riders to use our space. All visitors in the Cemetery must  use due caution on the roadways and paths, traversing the Cemetery grounds at their own risk.

The Albany Rural Cemetery is over 175 years old. Given the age of the Cemetery, there are many areas both on and off of the paved roadways that can be dangerous for walking, hiking or bicycle riding. Extreme care is warranted. Climbing or leaning on grave monuments is dangerous, and not permitted.

The following are strictly prohibited on Cemetery grounds:

  • BBQ pits, open flames, or fires of any kind.
  • Broadcasting loud music or music with profane language.
  • Temporary structures (unattended chairs, benches, or other likeness).
